Highlighted sustainable initiative in water reuse and conservation

"It's quite remarkable, this concept of reusing water; I've looked into it, and it's challenging. I had no idea such technology existed," were the words used by Miqueas Chan Yam, an Industrial Engineering student at the National Technological Institute of Mexico (TecNM) Campus Motul, to describe the operation and advantages of our sustainable initiative, Zero Discharge Goal 2025, aimed at water conservation. New Guided Tours Program By participating in our Guided Tours program, Miqueas, along with 34 of his peers from the sixth semester and professors from the institution, visited the “Kinchil” farm in the Maxcanú municipality. There, they witnessed firsthand all the components involved in the recovery, treatment, and continuous recirculation of water throughout the production processes. A Long-term Water Conservation Project During the tour, led by our water management professionals, details were provided about the three phases of the project leading up to 2025: the first phase involves saving 50 percent of water consumption through good operational practices; the second phase currently implements an internal circuit for reusing treated water; and the final phase employs technology for the continuous recirculation, thereby solidifying the zero-discharge model. "This allows us to understand the reality of how water is conserved, as well as the processes carried out on a farm, moving beyond assumptions that undermine the efforts of many people," mentioned teacher Pedro May Hoil, following the explanation on optimizing water conservation.
