Thai Union presents its sustainable development initiative, SeaChange® 2023, at SX2023.
Bangkok, October 3, 2023 - Thai Union Group PCL, a global leader in seafood production, unveiled its forward-looking sustainability initiative, SeaChange® 2030, at the Sustainability Expo 2023 (SX2023), Asia's premier event for sustainability, hosted at the Sirikit National Convention Center from October 3 to October 8. Thai Union Group proudly stands as one of the initial five members that established the Sustainability Expo back in 2020. Thiraphong Chansiri, the CEO of Thai Union Group, expressed, "This year signifies a pivotal moment in our engagement with SX2023. We are in a critical decade for action, where sustainability is not only a key agenda for corporations but also a growing concern for consumers. Since the launch of our sustainability blueprint, SeaChange®, in 2016, it has been fundamental to our international operations. The company has recently advanced to the next phase of this blueprint, SeaChange® 2030, which is structured around 11 interrelated objectives aimed at providing solutions for both humanity and the environment. This initiative also aims to enhance cooperation throughout the seafood sector. Thai Union is committed to the belief that the future of seafood must be sustainable for future generations." At SX2023, Thai Union delved into the specifics of SeaChange® 2030, highlighting its 11 pledges which include achieving net-zero emissions, ensuring the responsibility of wild-caught seafood, aquaculture, and agriculture, restoring ecosystems, achieving best-in-class manufacturing, implementing sustainable packaging, reducing ocean plastic, promoting safe, decent, and equitable work, improving nutrition & health, and upholding corporate citizenship. The inauguration of the event saw the presence of Dr. Sumet Tantivejkul, Chairman and Secretary-General of the Chai Pattana Foundation, Thunpuying Butri Viravaidya, and Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, CEO of ThaiBev, who made a visit to the Thai Union booth. Adam Brennan, Thai Union’s Chief Sustainability Officer, and Prad Kerdpairoj, Sustainability Director - Asia, warmly greeted guests, sharing insights into Thai Union's dedication to sustainability and the impactful journey of the SeaChange® 2030 strategy in transforming the global seafood industry towards positive sustainability practices.
