On 25 February 2021, in Bangkok, Thai Union Group PCL, a prominent international seafood corporation and proprietor of the Bellotta cat food label, contributed 10,000 cans of cat food to the Rakmaw For Stray Cats Foundation. This organization is dedicated to aiding street cats that are sick, injured, or in need. The foundation plans to distribute these donations to various cat shelters, hospitals, and temples across Thailand, which have reported an uptick in the number of animals in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic's resurgence. Representing Thai Union at the donation event were Mr. Peter Galli, the Global Director of Corporate Communications, and Ms. Sasimon Kiangkitiwan, the Assistant Marketing Manager for the Global PetCare Business Unit. They presented the donation to Ms. Wachira Thaveesakulsuk, who founded the Rakmaw For Stray Cats Foundation. Pornchai Tatiyachaitaweesuk, the Vice President for the Global PetCare Business Unit at Thai Union, remarked on the significant impact of COVID-19 on communities worldwide, affecting not only humans but animals as well. He emphasized the universal situation and the importance of contributing to the community, highlighting Thai Union’s Pet Care business's commitment to this cause. Mr. Galli also noted the evident rise in animal suffering due to the COVID-19 pandemic's resurgence, which has left many pet owners struggling to care for their pets amid financial hardships. He pointed out the increasing difficulty pet shelters face in securing food and supplies due to a decrease in donations, underscoring Thai Union and its Pet Care business's ongoing efforts to support local communities, their pets, and those caring for sick and needy street animals.
