Thai Union commemorates Earth Day 2021.

Today, April 22nd, marks the celebration of Earth Day, a day dedicated to raising global consciousness about environmental issues. Initiated in 1970 by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), Earth Day serves as a call to action for worldwide collaboration in advancing environmental preservation and sustainable development. It's a day when individuals across the globe unite to display efforts aimed at safeguarding our planet for the generations to come. At Thai Union, our dedication extends beyond just Earth Day; we are committed to fostering Healthy Living, Healthy Oceans, and a healthy planet every single day. This occasion also prompts us to contemplate our contributions to our planet and to consider further actions we can take to protect this invaluable gift from Mother Nature for future generations. Thai Union is devoted to playing a part in protecting the earth by reducing our use of natural resources and mitigating our environmental footprint. In the past year, we surpassed our 2020 goals for decreasing water use intensity and reducing waste sent to landfills. Additionally, we have achieved a 26 percent reduction in water withdrawal intensity and a 69 percent decrease in waste sent to landfill, in comparison to our 2016 figures. We take pride in our strides towards achieving our target for reducing the intensity of greenhouse gas emissions. In 2020, we managed to cut our greenhouse gas emission intensity by 28 percent. Our ongoing Sun Seeker Project, which involves installing solar panels on our factory roofs, made significant progress last year. Since 2017, we have reached a total solar capacity of 8.3 MW, generating 14,606,460 kWh, and have consequently reduced greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 7,595 tons of CO2 equivalent. Furthermore, we have set an ambitious goal for sustainable packaging, aiming for all of our branded packaging to be reusable, recyclable, or compostable by 2025. We also target an average of 30 percent recycled content in our branded packaging by the same year. Our commitment to Healthy Living, Healthy Oceans, and a healthy planet remains unwavering, and we hope you share our enthusiasm!
