Northern Ireland’s Responsible Business Awards include ABP
ABP has been recognized as a contender for the 2023 Responsible Business Awards in Northern Ireland, a distinction that highlights the company's commitment to making a positive impact within local communities. These awards, facilitated by the Business in the Community network, aim to honor businesses that demonstrate a proactive approach to benefiting their communities. Nominated for the ‘Impact in your Community’ category, ABP operates in several locations including Newry, Lurgan, Dungannon, and Lisnaskea, having expanded its reach through acquiring Linden Foods & Kettyle Irish Foods. The company's contributions are particularly notable in rural and agricultural sectors, ranging from enhancing educational opportunities for youth to a 25-year involvement with the Balmoral Show. Among its educational initiatives, the ABP Angus Youth Challenge stands out, inviting participation from 14-15 year olds, with plans to reopen entries this coming September. Furthermore, ABP is developing a scholarship for Sustainable Agriculture Degree students at CAFRE Greenmount and Loughry Campus, aiming to broaden their experience across the company's operations. ABP also supports Reach Mentoring, aiding teenagers at risk of leaving school prematurely. In a significant gesture to mark its 25th year at Balmoral, ABP transitioned from its usual marquee to an agricultural building, which was then raffled off to benefit Rural Support’s Life Beyond program, aiding families of farmers who have passed away. This initiative successfully raised £64K in six weeks. Additionally, ABP proudly sponsors the HEMS Northern Ireland Air Ambulance, providing crucial emergency services to remote and rural communities.
