JBS begins construction of a sustainability-focused factory in SP.

JBS, a leading global food company specializing in protein-based products, in collaboration with Silvateam, the world's top producer of plant extracts for animal feed, is set to host an event on May 4th and 5th aimed at fostering discussions and insights on methane emissions within the cattle industry and the actions that can be taken to combat global warming. The "Methane in Livestock Farming Forum – Path to Climate Neutrality" will convene experts in the field at the Hilton hotel in São Paulo for a comprehensive schedule of lectures and discussions. The forum will feature speakers such as Frank Mitloehner from the Department of Animal Science at UC Davis; Diana Rodgers, director and co-author of “Sacred Cow”; Eduardo Assad, researcher at FGV and Cepagri-Unicamp; Peer Ederer, director and founder of GOAL Sciences - Global Observatory on Accurate Livestock Sciences; Aimable Uwizeye, Livestock Policy Officer at FAO in Italy; Henry Darren, professor at the University of Georgia; Maik Kindermann, director of innovation and technology at DSM and inventor of Bovaer; Fabiana Villa Alves, acting director of Sustainable Production and Irrigation at the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, and Supply (MAPA); Marcelo Manella, director of Animal Nutrition at Silvateam Brazil; among others. Fábio Dias, director of relations with livestock farmers at JBS, will also speak about JBS's initiatives aligned with the Net Zero 2040 commitment. Dias stated, “JBS is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. Addressing methane emissions from the cattle sector is a key part of this challenge, and we are already working on mitigation projects. However, we recognize that we don't have all the answers, which is why we are organizing this significant event to bring together some of the world's leading experts on this critical mission.” Michele Battaglia, president of Silvateam Brazil, mentioned, “Over the past fifteen years, Silvateam has been dedicated to finding cutting-edge solutions in animal nutrition, shifting towards natural and environmentally friendly ingredients. Tannins, saponins, and polyphenols are the primary natural extracts we've chosen to enhance animal production efficiency, effectively replace antibiotics, and improve animal welfare, all while reducing the climate impact of gas emissions.” The event will cover the real impacts of livestock farming on greenhouse gas emissions, assessment techniques and metrics, as well as available solutions for emission mitigation. Success stories from both public and private sector initiatives will be shared, along with opportunities for financing and carbon credits. This initiative is brought to you by JBS and Silvateam, with sponsorship from Tortuga, a DSM brand, and support from the Sustainable Livestock Working Group (GTPS), the Brazilian Association of Mineral Supplement Industries (Asbram), and the Liga do Araguaia.
