Fundraising achievement by ABP Northern Ireland for local charities
ABP Food Group, with its operations in Northern Ireland, recently made a significant contribution to the community by donating over £67,000 to eight regional charities. This generous act was the culmination of a year filled with various corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. The company, which operates two processing facilities in Lurgan and Newry and employs nearly 500 individuals in the area, saw its staff participate in numerous fundraising efforts to support these local organizations. Liam McCarthy, representing ABP Food Group's Newry location, shared that the company chose to aid eight charities that play a vital role in the communities of their employees. Among the fundraising activities, a standout event was a charity ball held at the Canal Court Hotel, benefiting the Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland, which impressively raised £30,000. Bernadine McCrory, the operations director for the Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland, expressed her gratitude towards the efforts of the ABP Food Group's employees in Lurgan and Newry, as well as the sponsors and attendees of the event for their generous contributions. Furthermore, McCarthy highlighted another significant fundraising event, an annual BBQ, which successfully raised close to £30,000. This event supported Brain Injury Matters and Head Injury Support with £14,330 each, along with a £1,000 donation to MacMillan Cancer Support. Additional fundraising efforts included utilizing the company's car park for a Co Down GAA match, raising £1,000 for the Southern Area Hospice, and collecting £600 for Cancer Focus NI during the Balmoral Show 2015. The company also contributed £2,000 to Up for Downs throughout the year. A particularly heartfelt initiative was the support for S.M.A.R.T. (NI) Ltd, established in memory of Stephen McElroy, which aims to build a sports pitch next to St Mary’s Primary School, Dechomet, Castlewellan, in his honor. ABP Food Group takes pride in its team's commitment to making a positive impact in their local communities through these substantial fundraising efforts.
