Cooke Acquires Invergordon Fish Feed Mill
Cooke Inc. has revealed the formation of Northeast Nutrition Scotland Limited, following the purchase of the former Skretting fish feed mill in Invergordon. The mill, situated at Inverbreakie Industrial Estate, was previously used to produce fish feed for Scottish aquaculture firms. Northeast Nutrition Scotland Limited will now produce fish feed for Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Limited, a prominent salmon producer with facilities in the Shetland and Orkney Islands, as well as mainland UK. Invergordon is a port town in Easter Ross, in Ross and Cromarty, Highland, Scotland. "Our salmon is raised on feeds that meet the highest animal feed safety standards," stated Glenn Cooke, Cooke Inc.'s CEO. "We are eager to incorporate domestic feed production in Scotland, contributing to the vertical integration of our operations and further improving our fish's full traceability." In November 2018, Skretting announced its intention to stop manufacturing activities in the UK, and it shut down the Invergordon facility in April 2019. Cooke intends to collaborate with former employees affected by the closure to restart operations at the mill. "We are delighted to offer new opportunities to these employees and have a dedicated and experienced team ready from the outset," commented Chris Bryden, mill manager. "Invergordon, a rural coastal community with around 4,000 residents, joining the Cooke group of companies gives us the chance to preserve Scottish jobs and play a significant role in a globally recognized expanding seafood leader," Bryden added. Cooke Aquaculture Scotland, along with Cooke's feed division and feed suppliers, employ teams of experts in fish nutrition, feed production, fish feeding behavior, fish health management, farm management, and IT to oversee every aspect of feed supply and delivery. Cooke's dedication to sustainably sourced feed ingredients, continuous enhancements to feed formulations, and innovations in feed delivery enable the company to produce healthy fish for its customers.
