Compassion in World Farming award won by Blade Farming

Blade Farming, a subsidiary of the ABP Food Group, has been honored with a distinguished award from Compassion in World Farming. Recognized as the leading beef production enterprise in the UK – known for its superior and uniform beef produced through a network of committed beef farmers – the Good Calf Commendation award highlights Blade Farming's dedication to maintaining the highest welfare standards for dairy calves within its operations. The Good Farm Animal Welfare Awards, organized by Compassion in World Farming, are designed to acknowledge the efforts of prominent food companies towards enhancing the welfare of farm animals. The awards ceremony this year took place at the Milan Expo, hosted by the renowned chef, author, and broadcaster Allegra McEvedy, MBE. Among the 41 accolades distributed, notable recipients included McDonalds, Jamie Oliver, Whole Foods Market, and Ferrero – with the improved welfare policies set to positively impact nearly 15 million farm animals this year. Richard Phelps, the Managing Director at Blade Farming, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are extremely pleased to receive the Good Calf Commendation at this year’s Good Farm Animal Welfare awards. Our commitment to providing the utmost welfare for our dairy calves is a priority, and it’s rewarding to see our efforts acknowledged. “This recognition places us among the forefront of industry pioneers who share our commitment to animal welfare throughout the food production process. This accolade is among several recent accomplishments for Blade Farming, and it motivates us to continue our collaboration with farmers throughout the UK to maintain high welfare standards universally.”
