At the SPACE-F Batch 3 Incubator Demo Day, food technology startups presented their innovative solutions.
On November 8, 2022, in Bangkok, seven pioneering food-tech startups showcased their groundbreaking solutions aimed at transforming the food industry during the demo day of SPACE-F Batch 3 Incubator. This event attracted a diverse audience including investors, venture capitalists, and corporate executives from both Thailand and international locations. SPACE-F, recognized as Thailand's inaugural global food-tech startup incubator and accelerator, extended its support to these startups, which ranged from local to international origins, including Kokoonic, Muu, Phagos, Powco, Tasted Better, Balance Corp, and Pet Dynamic. Dr. Pun-arj Chairatana, the Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency, emphasized the unpredictable nature of the entrepreneurial journey and highlighted the supportive community SPACE-F has cultivated. This community not only equips founders with essential skills and mindsets but also fosters lasting connections among peers. He proudly noted that the SPACE-F alumni network includes 44 successful startups from over 13 countries, with their products reaching markets in more than 10 countries globally and securing over USD 7.6 million in funding. Dr. Chairatana envisions Bangkok becoming a hub akin to Silicon Valley for the food-tech sector, leveraging Thailand's strong food industry. Prof. Dr. Pattarachai Kiratisin, Vice President for Research at Mahidol University, acknowledged the achievements of Thai food entrepreneurs and startups on both regional and global stages, even amidst the COVID pandemic. He credited SPACE-F for paving the way for many of these successes and celebrated the third batch of the program, which continues to foster food-tech entrepreneurship globally. SPACE-F stands as a pioneering platform in Thailand, connecting leading food-tech startups and corporations through mentorship, business connections, and a co-working program, without taking equity. This initiative is a collaborative effort involving Thai Union Group PCL, the National Innovation Agency, Mahidol University, and supported by industry leaders like Thai Beverage PLC and Deloitte Thailand, with Nest ASEAN (an XPDITE company) providing expertise in startup growth. The event also featured insights from Thiraphong Chansiri, President and CEO of Thai Union Group PCL, and Thapana Sirivadhanabhakdi, President and CEO of Thai Beverage PLC, both of whom praised the significant progress of the startups over the program's duration and reiterated their commitment to supporting sustainable development goals through such collaborations. The SPACE-F Batch 3 Incubator demo day not only concluded the cohort's year-long journey with the program but also marked the beginning of their continued growth and contribution to the food tech ecosystem.
