ABP strengthens its commitment to agricultural safety

In recent times, over 175 agricultural workers nationwide have participated in farm safety workshops provided by ABP Food Group, underscoring the company's dedication to enhancing awareness around the critical issue of farm safety. ABP has initiated these educational sessions in various locations including Rathkeale, Bandon, Nenagh, Cahir, and Waterford, with plans to expand to additional areas. These workshops, supported by ABP Food Group and conducted through Farm Relief Services Training, equip farmers with essential farm safety knowledge. Participants are taught how to improve their farm's safety protocols and become more aware of how to prevent accidents on the farm. The training includes interactive demonstrations on the safe handling of equipment, shed safety, animal behavior, and other potential farm hazards. ABP has also contributed to farm safety awareness by sponsoring a special award for farm safety initiatives at the BT Young Science and Technology Exhibition and by setting up a farm safety information booth at the event. Additionally, ABP has installed farm safety signs at its facilities and supports Embrace Farms, a charity organizing memorial events for farming accident victims. Jim Dockery, Training Manager at Farm Relief Services Training and organizer of the training sessions, commented on the initiative, stating that these workshops reflect ABP's ongoing commitment to farm safety. He highlighted the increasing dangers present on farms and the positive feedback received from participants, emphasizing the beneficial impact of the training. Paul Mathews, ABP Group Livestock Manager, expressed his concern over the devastating effects of farm accidents on families and communities. He emphasized the importance of the initiative as a means to promote safety awareness in a practical and realistic setting, with the ultimate goal of preventing farm accidents.
