ABP participates in the National Ploughing Championships Schools Competition
At the 2016 Certified Irish Angus Beef School Competition, held during the National Ploughing Championships in Screggan, RTÉ's Miriam O’Callaghan had the honor of awarding Angus cross calves to the five schools that made it to the finals. The presentation took place at the Irish Angus Exhibition, where each of the finalist schools was given five calves. This competition is a collaborative effort between the Irish Angus Producer Group and ABP, aiming to inspire students to pursue Agricultural Science in their Leaving Cert. The initiative seeks to equip young individuals with a comprehensive understanding of agriculture, preparing them for their future endeavors. A total of 17 students from various schools are participating, including: - Two students from St Brogans College, Bandon, Co. Cork - Five students from CBS The Green, Tralee, Co. Kerry - Three students from Rice College, Westport, Co. Mayo - Four students from Colaiste Treasa, Kanturk, Co. Cork - Three students from Athlone Community College, Athlone, Co. Westmeath. The competition will culminate in early 2018, when the winning school will be declared and awarded a grand prize of €2,000.
