ABP encourages student participation in Farm Safety for BT Young Scientist 2018

For the fourth year in a row, ABP Food Group is proud to be the sponsor of the distinguished Farm Safety award at the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE). The organization is inviting secondary school students with a passion for Farm Safety to submit their projects on the topic for the upcoming BT Young Scientist Expo. Interested students are encouraged to express their interest by September 25th by signing up on the official website for the BT Young Scientist 2018 event. The "ABP Farm Safety Award" is dedicated to acknowledging projects that aim to enhance safety on farms or contribute to educating individuals about farm-related hazards. ABP is eager for the award to motivate students, regardless of their background, to delve into farm safety and explore current challenges facing the agricultural sector. The previous year's accolade was awarded to Jack Nagle of Killorglin Community College in Kerry for his innovative 'Tractor Safe Lock' project. Martin Kane, the Managing Director of ABP Ireland, commented, "Recent research indicates that agriculture is the most hazardous profession in Ireland. Through our support, we aim to heighten awareness among the youth about the perils present on farms and to discover solutions to mitigate these risks. The farm safety award is accessible to all secondary students who present a Farm Safety Project for the forthcoming contest. We strongly urge those interested in contributing to the resolution of safety issues on Irish farms to participate." Additionally, ABP Food Group will feature a farm safety zone at the exhibition, offering students and attendees the chance to commit to enhancing farm safety. The BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, now in its 54th iteration, stands as one of the most significant and enduring STEM events globally. The 2018 BTYSTE, under the theme "it starts here," aims to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, showcasing the pivotal role the exhibition plays in this endeavor. The event is scheduled to occur at the RDS, Dublin from January 10th to 13th, 2018.
