ABP Clones supports local education with donation of over 1,000 trees to Monaghan schools
ABP Clones is thrilled to share that it has contributed over a thousand trees to 44 elementary schools throughout Monaghan County. These mature, native Irish trees were planted as a measure to bolster biodiversity within the schools and to foster environmental and sustainability consciousness among the students. The collaboration between ABP Clones and Monaghan schools has already yielded significant progress towards making their educational institutions and the surrounding community more sustainable. Each of these native trees has the potential to absorb up to 14 kilograms of Carbon Dioxide annually. Between the years 2007 and 2016, Ireland's forests have played a crucial role in sequestering an average of 3.8 million tons of Carbon Dioxide equivalent. Luke McDermott, who serves as the Environmental and Sustainability Officer at ABP Clones, expressed his gratitude, stating: “I am grateful to all the participating schools for embarking on this sustainability venture with us by planting 1,250 trees. It's a pleasure to work alongside local schools in such a meaningful project.” He further emphasized the importance of trees, noting: “Trees play an essential role in our daily lives. They are crucial for absorbing the harmful carbon dioxide present in our atmosphere and in turn, replenishing it with clean oxygen for us to breathe. Moreover, they offer numerous other advantages that benefit the entire community.” To get a closer look at the tree planting efforts by ABP Clones, watch the dedicated video in English.
