ABP celebrates 25 years at the Balmoral Show
ABP is celebrating its 25th anniversary at the Balmoral Show by offering attendees the unique opportunity to win its exhibition stand, an agricultural building, through a charity raffle organized by Rural Support. During the event, Rural Support will be selling raffle tickets, with participants having the chance to win the building or opt for a £20,000 cash alternative. All the proceeds from the raffle will benefit Rural Support’s Life Beyond programme, which offers crucial support to farming families dealing with bereavement, whether due to terminal illness, incapacitation, or death from various causes, including farm accidents or suicide, by providing both business and emotional support to the surviving family members. Ticket Sales ABP, a key supplier of beef and lamb to major retailers and restaurants, has been a significant supporter of the Balmoral Show for a decade, serving as a platinum sponsor. The groundbreaking charity raffle tickets will be sold for £10 each at the ABP stand (no. B5) or the Rural Support stand (no. B33a), as well as through contacting ABP/Linden Food/Kettyle Irish Foods locations in Newry, Lurgan, Dungannon, and Lisnaskea. The shed will also serve as a hospitality venue, where ABP’s farmer-suppliers are invited to enjoy refreshments and consider the impact of winning such a significant prize or choosing the cash option. Beyond the raffle, ABP is sponsoring various pedigree livestock competitions and the NI Sheep Shearer’s Association Circuit. Support for Bereaved Farming Families George Mullan, ABP Northern Ireland’s Managing Director and the founding Chairman of Life Beyond, shared that ABP’s decision to donate its exhibition stand to Rural Support in lieu of a marquee is a continuation of its commitment to supporting the farming community and its charity partners at Balmoral. ABP has a history of supporting bereavement services, including its partnership with Embrace Farm in Ireland, and is proud to extend similar support to Northern Ireland through Rural Support. Veronica Morris, Chief Executive of Rural Support, expressed gratitude for ABP’s ongoing support of the Life Beyond Programme, highlighting the significant impact the raffle proceeds will have on assisting bereaved farming families in Northern Ireland during challenging times. ABP’s engagement with community and charity initiatives reflects its comprehensive approach to enhancing the well-being, safety, and sustainability of the livestock farming community in Northern Ireland. The company’s community investments, including Life Beyond, demonstrate its commitment to the sector. In 2021, ABP also partnered with HEMS Air Ambulance NI, which frequently responds to farming-related emergencies, and has been an active participant in the Farm Safety Partnership. Additionally, ABP’s investment in education and skills development, such as through the ABP Angus Youth Challenge, underscores its dedication to nurturing future industry leaders.
