Climate change, the global water crisis, and biodiversity loss are among the primary factors weakening food security worldwide. Currently, ensuring the availability and access to nutritious, high-quality food represents one of the biggest challenges for the food industry, given that the global population is estimated to be around 8 billion people. The global food sector faces a clear challenge: to meet the demand for nutritious, high-quality food that ensures people's good health while also preserving natural resources to maintain sustainability. As part of the pork industry in Mexico, we at Kekén take pride and responsibility in providing highly nutritious, quality pork to the homes of Mexican families and to many parts of the world. Our commitment to food security To ensure a food safety management system that enables strict food safety in our products, we are validated by the FSSC22000 certification, an internationally recognized standard that positions us among the most competitive Mexican companies in the international market. Our processing plants are certified by TIF, ensuring that our final product meets the highest standards of quality and safety. To achieve this certification, our processes adhere to the strictest health and hygiene standards, including supervision by specialized government veterinarians from Mexico. Sustainability alongside food security In addition to ensuring safe products for the population, at Kekén, we focus daily on continuous improvement, research, and investment to steer our processes towards sustainability. The preservation of our natural resources is paramount, hence our initiatives to protect them are reflected in our modern wastewater treatment plant systems, achieving responsible water management and thus contributing to food security. It's important to share that we dedicate approximately 15,000 hectares to the conservation of native jungle. What does this mean? It means preserving the life and prosperity of both endemic and migratory species of flora and fauna in their habitat, in a healthy balance with our operations. Pork farming and food security At Kekén, we understand that sustainability is also about the health and well-being of our animals. The Cloverleaf Animal Welfare System has certified our processing plants in Sahé and Umán, as well as our farms, in terms of Animal Welfare.
