The study emphasizes the role of aquaculture in addressing our climate issues. It underscores the importance of boosting food production in the sea and shifting dietary habits from land animal-based protein to plant and sea-based alternatives for the sake of our climate. This is also beneficial for our health, as stated by Cermaq's CEO, Geir Molvik. The study points out five potential areas for action, similar to the Opportunity report initiated by the UN GC Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Businesses, with ocean-based energy, ocean-based transport, and fisheries and aquaculture being the focal points. "Cermaq is actively involved in the UN GC Action Platform for Sustainable Ocean Businesses, collaborating to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. We appreciate this study. We understand the need to increase food production in the sea and urge governments to respond accordingly," says Geir Molvik.
