Tyson Foods has declared a significant contribution of nearly 170,000 pounds, equivalent to almost 700,000 meals, to Feeding America food banks and their associated agencies across Arkansas in recognition of Hunger Action Month. This brings the company's total donations in its home state to 3.8 million pounds for the current year. The following food banks in the state will be beneficiaries of this donation: - River Valley Regional Food Bank in Fort Smith – 45,156 lbs. - Northwest Arkansas Food Bank in Bethel Heights – 38,660 lbs. - Food Bank of North Central Arkansas in Norfork – 35,180 lbs. - Arkansas Foodbank in Little Rock – 30,802 lbs. - Harvest Regional Food Bank in Texarkana – 19,800 lbs. Debra Vernon, senior director of corporate social responsibility at Tyson Foods, stated that the company is dedicated to combating food insecurity in the communities they serve and is proud to assist local hunger relief agencies. She noted that protein is often the hardest item for food banks to obtain, and this donation will significantly help those in Arkansas who are unsure of where their next meal will come from. In Arkansas, over half a million individuals face hunger, with one in four being children. Tracy Engel, director of the River Valley Regional Food Bank, praised Tyson Foods for their crucial role in combating hunger in the River Valley. The company's grants have enabled the food bank to increase their freezer capacity and provide their clients with essential nutrition. Tyson Foods, which employs over 24,000 people in the state, also purchases poultry, cattle, pigs, grain, diesel, and other utilities in Arkansas. The company estimates its annual economic impact in the state to be over $2.1 billion. About Tyson Foods: Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN) is a global food company and a recognized leader in protein.
