On December 7, 2017, in Springdale, Arkansas, Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN) announced an increased investment in Beyond Meat, a company specializing in plant-based proteins. This investment was made through Tyson's venture capital fund as part of Beyond Meat's latest fundraising effort. The goal of this initiative is to raise more capital to facilitate the expansion of the company's product range and distribution network. Although the specifics of the deal remain confidential, it is known that Tyson Foods has slightly increased its ownership in Beyond Meat from the 5 percent it held a year prior.
