Tyson Foods Honors Top Suppliers for Annual Performance

Annual Recognition for Nine Firms Announced Springdale, Ark. – April 27, 2017 – Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN) has declared nine firms as the recipients of its twelfth annual “Supplier of the Year” awards. The awards were handed out at a lunch event at Tyson Foods’ Global Headquarters, attended by Tyson Foods’ Poultry Operations President Doug Ramsey, Procurement Senior Vice President Melanie Russell, and Corporate Research and Development Senior Vice President Craig Bacon. The 2016 Supplier of the Year award recipients include: Applied Industrial Technologies, Inc. from Cleveland, Ohio, a nationwide provider of mechanical components, bearing power transmissions, and fluid power. POET Ethanol Products from Wichita, Kan., a specialized provider of liquid CO2. ColorMasters, LLC, from Albertville, Ala., a provider of innovative flexible products. Symrise, Inc., from Teterboro, N.J., a provider of seasoning and flavor products. Wabash Valley Produce, Inc., from Dubois, Ind., a provider of liquid eggs. In addition, several firms were recognized for their outstanding performance in specific areas. Select Technologies, Inc. from Belmont, Mich., and Mid States Electric from Sioux City, Iowa, were named “Contractors of the Year” for their service in the Poultry, Prepared Foods, and Fresh Meats divisions. Kerry from Beloit, Wis., was acknowledged as “Innovation Supplier of the Year” for its strong dedication to culinary, consumer insights, research and development, and application resources. Heartland Supply Company, Inc., from Fayetteville, Ark., a minority-owned provider of food ingredients, along with a robust distribution network, was recognized by Tyson’s Supplier Diversity program as “Diversity Supplier of the Year.” The recognitions were based on supply-chain performance, total cost of ownership, pricing programs, customer-service performance, innovation, sustainability initiatives, and other performance metrics observed throughout the year. “We deeply value our suppliers as they are vital to Tyson Foods’ success as a company,” said Melanie Russell, senior vice president of procurement, Tyson Foods. “The 2016 recipients have shown an extraordinary commitment to helping us assure our customers and consumers of the safety and quality of our products.” The theme of the lunch event was focused on the suppliers’ contributions to the success of Tyson Foods. Ramsey, Russell, and Bacon each addressed the winners, expressing gratitude for their hard work as business partners with Tyson Foods in 2016 and acknowledging their renewed focus on innovation and their ability to reduce costs while increasing efficiency.
