## Triumph at the Institute of Meat Awards

#### ABP Food Group had huge success at this year’s Institute of Meat awards, hosted at the Butchers Guild in London, where we scooped three separate awards.

ABP Food Group had huge success at this year’s Institute of Meat awards, hosted at the Butchers Guild in London, where we scooped three separate awards. Congratulations to Mark Preece of ABP Food Group Shrewsbury, who won the Best Meat Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year award. He was nominated by Chris McLachlan, Rhian Jones and Shropshire Training for his hard work, which has enabled him to quickly excel on the apprentice scheme. The award is also testament to the time and effort dedicated to training at Shrewsbury – particularly since this is the second year running that an apprentice at the site has won this prize. ABP Food Group Langport was also in the ribbons, winning Best Company Training Scheme for their apprenticeship programme, just one year after it was launched. It’s great to see that Langport’s commitment to apprentice training is already being recognised by the industry. Finally, Jim McPhie of ABP Food Group Doncaster was decorated with a Master Butcher award after 39 years of sharing his expertise with the industry. Jim is now one of only 17 Master Butchers in the world and joins Dave Smith, Senior Accounts Manager and Andy Madeley, Intake Manager, in having this prestigious title.
