ABP Food Group has been acknowledged for its superior water management practices across its operations at the Carbon Trust Sustainability Conference held in London. The firm was among five distinguished organizations recognized for their exemplary efforts in sustainability during the year 2016\. In a single year, ABP Food Group managed to decrease its total water consumption by 6.6%, while enhancing its comprehensive water management strategy. The company's effective employee engagement strategy, which included the appointment of environmental champions and the enhancement of data collection at each facility, has facilitated the identification of key areas for ongoing improvement. The company's water use efficiency initiatives have seen upgrades to boilers, heat recovery units, and processes related to washing and cooling. Dean Holroyd, the Technical and Sustainability Director at ABP Food Group, expressed his thoughts on the achievement, stating, “ABP has achieved a 43% reduction in water use since 2008, and we are currently surpassing our goals towards achieving a 50% reduction in water usage across the Group by 2020\. Receiving this award serves as a third-party confirmation of our efforts and marks the peak of a decade-long focus on assessing, tracking, and minimizing our water usage throughout the company. We are committed to ongoing improvement, embracing international best practices, and maintaining our leadership in sustainability within the red meat industry.”
