Tönnies initiates a collaborative venture in China.

Tevex Logistics Introduces Groundbreaking Electric Truck from Daimler in Germany On October 4, 2021, in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, Tevex Logistics, a subsidiary of the Tönnies Group, marked a significant milestone in sustainable transportation by incorporating its first electric truck (e-truck) into its fleet. This vehicle, a pre-production model currently under evaluation, distinguishes Tevex Logistics as the sole participant among four collaborators with Daimler to pilot a refrigerated e-truck. This initiative is a key component of the Tönnies Group's t30 sustainability strategy, aimed at significantly reducing CO2 emissions. The eActros 300, as the electric truck is officially known, closely resembles its conventional counterparts in appearance. However, its remarkably low noise level sets it apart, operating without the typical sounds associated with traditional engines or cooling systems, a feature that has garnered praise from Clemens Tönnies, the CEO, for its exceptional quietness. Tevex Logistics is playing a pivotal role in the development of Daimler Truck AG's eActros by rigorously testing the vehicle in real-world conditions. Dirk Mutlak, Managing Director of Tevex Logistics, highlighted the importance of these tests, stating that the data collected is crucial for refining the vehicle towards mass production. The testing phase, based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, is set to continue into the following year, with potential for extension based on progress. The eActros is slated for intensive use in daily operations, tasked with delivering a range of high-quality food products across local and extended routes. Dirk Mutlak anticipates the e-truck will achieve up to 600 kilometers daily, supported by a charging infrastructure at the company's premises that allows for rapid recharging from 20 to 80 percent within an hour. This transition to electric vehicles (EVs) represents a significant step towards zero CO2 emissions in logistics, aligning with Clemens Tönnies' vision for sustainable food production and the broader adoption of climate-neutral technologies. The company is also exploring the electrification of its corporate fleet, with plans to generate the necessary electricity through on-site photovoltaic systems. The eActros features a Mercedes three-axle chassis equipped with a double-decker refrigerated body and an all-electric refrigeration unit. Its drive system comprises an electric rigid axle with dual integrated electric motors and a two-speed transmission. Additionally, it includes advanced assistance systems for safer driving, mirroring those found in the increasingly utilized Actros 5 models by Tevex Logistics.
