This second issuance of a Sustainability-Linked Bond underscores Thai Union's strategic dedication to integrating sustainability throughout its operations. On November 11, 2021, in Bangkok, Thai Union Group PCL., a global leader in seafood processing, announced the successful issuance of a dual-tranche senior and unsecured Sustainability-Linked Bonds (SLB) amounting to THB 6 billion aimed at institutional investors. The issuance comprised a 5-year tranche valued at THB 4.5 billion with a 2.27 percent interest rate, and a 10-year tranche worth THB 1.5 billion at a 3.36 percent interest rate. This move further solidifies the company's commitment to sustainability and its role in fostering the growth of sustainable capital markets in Thailand, building on its pioneering SLB issuance in the country in July. The Bank of Ayudhya Public Company Limited (Krungsri) played a pivotal role as the exclusive bookrunner and arranger for this SLB issuance. This issuance marks Thai Union's ongoing commitment to sustainable business practices, representing a significant advancement for Blue Finance and the broader seafood industry. Thai Union has been recognized for its leadership in sustainability, securing the top position on the Seafood Stewardship Index (SSI) for its efforts towards the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). On November 4, 2021, TRIS Rating Co., Ltd. awarded this latest issuance an “A+” rating with a “Positive” outlook, reflecting Thai Union's financial robustness and its status as a leading seafood processor globally. The offering builds upon the momentum of Thai Union's initial SLB in July of the same year, featuring similar mechanisms for interest rate adjustments based on the achievement of Sustainability Performance Targets (SPTs) within Thai Union's Sustainability-Linked Financing Framework, with Sustainalytics providing a Second Party Opinion. Thiraphong Chansiri, President & CEO of Thai Union, expressed the company's unwavering commitment to sustainability through its global SeaChange® strategy. He highlighted the bond issuance as an opportunity to attract new investors and establish a reference benchmark for SLB curves, reflecting strong investor confidence in Thai Union's sustainable business model and financial health. Seiichiro Akita, President and CEO of Krungsri, and Alisara Mahasandana, Assistant Governor of the Bank of Thailand, both commended Thai Union's successful SLB issuance and its contribution to promoting sustainable finance in Thailand. Thai Union Group PCL is recognized as a global seafood leader, committed to delivering high-quality, innovative seafood products worldwide. With a strong focus on sustainability, Thai Union operates under the SeaChange® sustainability strategy and has been acknowledged for its efforts in sustainable business practices, including its consistent listing on the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and the FTSE4Good Emerging Index.
