In Mexico, 10 states are responsible for producing 86 percent of the country's pork, with pig farming playing a crucial role in this achievement. Yucatán ranks fourth, boasting an annual production of approximately 155,497 tons. Contributing to global food security through sustainable pig farming At Kekén, we take pride in being a pig farming company that produces and markets the highest quality meat protein, aiding in the food security of Mexico and the world. The rising global population prompts us to reconsider the challenges of meeting international food demand, necessitating that production sectors shift towards sustainable food practices. According to data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, just 5 countries account for 45 percent of the global population: China, India, the United States, Brazil, and Mexico. Based on projections for the next 40 years, agricultural production will need to increase by 60 percent, posing a significant challenge for producing countries to adopt sustainable models that ensure responsible food supply while minimizing environmental impact.
