Sale of Plumrose USA by Danish Crown

Danish Crown's 4WD strategy is centered on dominating its domestic markets in Northern Europe, expanding its foothold in Asia, and increasing its global leadership in casings. As part of this strategy, the company has decided to divest Plumrose USA. The company believes that JBS, with its extensive reach and access to raw materials in North America, is an ideal partner for Plumrose USA and will strengthen its business for the benefit of its dedicated customers. Danish Crown's Group CEO, Jais Valeur, praised Plumrose USA for its significant progress in recent years and thanked its management and employees for their dedication. Plumrose USA, a supplier of quality products for over 80 years, began its operations in 1932 with the production of sliced cooked ham. Over the years, it has diversified its product range to include premium bacons, packaged deli meats, quality deli counter hams, cooked ribs, and canned hams. JBS USA Food Company's CEO, Andre Nogueira, expressed excitement about the acquisition, praising Plumrose USA's professional team, strong portfolio of branded cooked and prepared foods, and well-invested assets in strategic locations. He also welcomed the addition of over 1,200 dedicated team members from Plumrose USA to JBS. Four months ago, Danish Crown unveiled its ambitious 4WD strategy, primarily aimed at expanding its four domestic markets in Denmark, Sweden, Poland, and the UK. The strategy also includes plans to increase exports to Asia and establish a production facility in China using Danish pork. Danish Crown is also focused on achieving global leadership in selected categories. Jais Valeur stated that the sale of Plumrose USA is a significant step towards achieving the long-term goals of the 4WD strategy. The company has significantly strengthened its financial capacity, providing it with ample flexibility to participate in what Valeur referred to as a necessary consolidation of the food sector in its four domestic markets. In the last financial year, Plumrose USA reported a revenue of DKK 3.4 billion. The company operates five plants and two distribution centers with 1,200 employees across the USA. JBS has agreed to pay DKK 1.6 billion to acquire Plumrose USA. The transaction is subject to approval by the US competition authorities.
