Press Statement Espersen, a global leader in whitefish processing, and Royal Greenland, a top player in North Atlantic seafood, are delighted to announce the establishment of a long-term strategic alliance. The collaboration comprises two primary components. Initially, Royal Greenland will engage in a long-term processing agreement with Espersen for flatfish, whitefish, and value-added consumer goods. Subsequently, Espersen will acquire Royal Greenland's facility in Koszalin, Poland, which currently employs around 1,000 individuals. This alliance enables Royal Greenland to concentrate more on its fishing, processing, sales, and marketing of North Atlantic species like cold-water prawns, snow crab, Greenland Halibut, and Greenlandic cod. For Espersen, this collaboration bolsters their strategy of providing a comprehensive range of delectable seafood to global customers. Klaus B. Nielsen, CEO of Espersen A/S, expressed his delight, stating that the partnership allows them to support their growth strategies in retail and food service. He emphasized that the new capabilities in flatfish processing and value-added products strengthen their position in the seafood industry. Mikael Thinghuus, CEO of Royal Greenland A/S, expressed his satisfaction with the processing agreement and the transfer of their Polish operations to Espersen. He highlighted the importance of the Koszalin products to their customers and Royal Greenland, and expressed his confidence in Espersen's ability to deliver high-quality products in a timely and cost-effective manner. The agreement and change of ownership will take effect on September 1, 2017\. The Royal Greenland plant will continue to operate with the existing organization and leadership and will complement the Espersen plants in Koszalin, which employ over 1,350 people in primary processing and value-adding activities. The partnership makes Espersen one of the largest employers in the Koszalin region. Royal Greenland will continue to purchase and supply raw materials for the Royal Greenland products produced in Koszalin. For additional information, please reach out to: Klaus B. Nielsen, CEO A.
