# Restructuring Plan Unveiled by Danish Crown

The Board of Directors of Danish Crown has proposed the closure of its Sæby abattoir due to a significant decline in the number of pigs supplied for slaughter in Denmark. The decrease in supply has resulted in a surplus capacity costing the company over DKK 300 million annually. The closure could result in the loss of jobs for 800 employees, however, Danish Crown plans to hire 450 new employees at its other abattoirs in Horsens, Ringsted, and Blans near Sønderborg. The company also plans to assist affected employees with travel costs, relocation subsidies, and job training. The decision comes despite increased pork prices and is part of a strategy to increase the value of their meat and the production of sustainable foods.
