The new call from Amaz is seeking businesses from various sectors that create a positive impact in the rural and forest regions of the Amazon. Businesses that generate a positive impact on the Amazon and contribute to keeping the forest standing while simultaneously increasing income for the region's populations are on the radar of AMAZ, an impact accelerator project supported by the JBS Fund for the Amazon. In this context, the accelerator has opened applications for the 2023 Business Call with the aim of finding startups and innovative businesses to be accelerated and to receive investments of up to R$ 600,000\. Interested parties can apply and view the full regulations of the initiative on the website amaz.org.br/chamada2023 AMAZ is looking for businesses from various sectors that generate a positive impact in the Amazon's rural and forest areas, have a product or service already tested in the market, and operate or plan to operate in the region. Startups and companies that are developing impact businesses aimed at forest conservation, biodiversity conservation, and the socio-environmental development of the Amazon can apply. Initiatives that are already developing activities in a practical and operational manner will be considered: developed prototype, in market testing phase; tested product, in market launch phase; or launched product, in funding or expansion phase. The call is aimed at businesses that generate solutions for the main social and environmental problems of the Amazon, seeking to conserve or recover forest areas, value knowledge and biodiversity, generate income, and improve the quality of life for rural and riverside communities. Among the benefits offered by AMAZ are the development of the Impact Thesis and business modeling; facilitation workshops on topics such as management and impact assessment; a mentoring and follow-up program; specialized legal and accounting advice for impact businesses; Scholarship Program and small Supports, Amazon at Home program for market access (amazoniaemcasa.org.br). "In the midst of extremely challenging conditions and a still nascent ecosystem, entrepreneurs face all kinds of difficulties to leverage their business in the Amazon. AMAZ's role is to support these entrepreneurs with capital, knowledge, connections, and everything else necessary to boost their growth. We hope to foster and practically create an ecosystem of impact and innovation in the Amazon," says Mariano Cenamo, CEO of AMAZ. For Andrea Azevedo, director of the JBS Fund for the Amazon, the recurrence of Amaz's call creates opportunities for entrepreneurs in the Amazon and enables a connection between local businesses and other enterprises. "It's an agenda that strengthens the impact business ecosystem, that is, the more acceleration calls, the more entrepreneurs will be interested in using the bioeconomy as a source and subsidy for businesses. With this, opportunities for impact entrepreneurs increase," she states. The final result of the call is scheduled to be announced on December 1st of this year.
