On August 14, 2018, in Portland, Oregon, research indicated that consumers are keen on increasing their seafood intake due to its health benefits and taste. However, the cost and preparation methods pose as obstacles. To address this, Pacific Seafood has introduced a new line of affordable, pre-seasoned frozen shrimp, available in scampi and honey jalapeno flavors. This convenient and adaptable meal option is perfect for freezing and can be used in a variety of food service settings. The shrimp are dry rubbed with an optimal blend of herbs and spices, rather than marinated, to highlight the shrimp's quality and maintain its texture. The shrimp, a 31-40 count, are sustainably sourced and processed in a 2 Star BAP certified facility. Lorin Gelfand, Pacific Seafood's head of innovation, stated that the company aims to create products that eliminate obstacles to seafood consumption. He noted that consumers often avoid buying seafood due to their lack of confidence in preparing it. Products like their new seasoned shrimp can help boost this confidence. The seasoned shrimp is easy to prepare - just thaw and cook until it turns opaque, which takes about 2-3 minutes. It's suitable for sautéing, broiling, or grilling and can be added to rice, pasta, stir-fries, and salads. It can also be served as an appetizer with a dipping sauce, making it a great choice for bistro snack menus. The product is currently available in 20/16 oz. retail bags and can be requested for foodservice. More information can be found at PacificSeafood.com/seasonedshrimp.
