New Slaughterhouse Rises in Holsted

As of recently, a well-maintained 114,000-square-metre piece of land in Holsted, southern Jutland, has begun its transformation. The initial components of Danish Crown's new bovine abattoir are now in place, with the structure gradually taking form. Midtjydsk Totalbyg, the main contractor, is currently engaged in the construction of concrete elements in the basement of the animal feed section. Following this, they will proceed to the offal department and the refrigeration unit on the first floor, once the deck is set up, as per Niels V. Juhl, the project manager for Danish Crown at the site. Niels V. Juhl confirms that the project is progressing as scheduled, with the contractors striving to complete a portion of the structure before winter sets in. Over the next few months, nearly 400 individuals will participate in the construction of what is set to be Europe's most advanced bovine abattoir. The administrative and staff building is projected to be ready for use by August 2013. The abattoir is anticipated to be fully operational by February 2014, resulting in the creation of 300 new jobs.
