Randers, 30 April 2014 Lorenz Hansen, known as Denmark's "Mr Beef" and CEO of DC Beef, has announced his decision to step down from his position as the head of Denmark's largest cattle slaughterhouse. The transition will coincide with the grand opening of the new cattle slaughterhouse in Holsted. From 1 October 2014, Finn Klostermann (48), the current Sales Director of DC Beef, will assume the leadership role. Finn Klostermann has been a part of DC Beef since 2007, initially serving as Deputy Chief Executive before becoming Sales Director in 2009\. He brings a wealth of industry experience from both domestic and international markets, along with a deep understanding of the organization and the markets where DC Beef operates. Peder Philipp, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DC Beef, expressed confidence in Klostermann's capabilities. Despite conducting a thorough recruitment process involving market searches, tests, and interviews, Klostermann emerged as the clear choice to lead DC Beef into the future, marking a generational shift in the company's leadership. Lorenz Hansen, who will turn 66 in October, had expressed his wish to retire about a year and a half ago. However, he agreed to stay on until the completion of the new cattle slaughterhouse, a project that has dominated the past few years. He will officially retire on 30 September. Peder Philipp acknowledged Hansen's significant contributions to DC Beef's success, attributing the company's position as Denmark's largest cattle slaughterhouse largely to his efforts. Hansen's extensive experience and innovative approach have enabled DC Beef to consistently increase prices paid to owners, maintaining its market share even as Danish production declines. Until the official transition, Lorenz Hansen will continue to hold overall responsibility for DC Beef.
