Mowi saw a significant increase in its operational EBIT, reaching EUR 137 million in Q2 2021, a substantial rise from EUR 99 million in the same period in 2020\. This was largely due to a surge in salmon demand, which led to an increase in prices across all markets, thereby boosting Mowi's earnings. Spot prices experienced a significant increase, with a 18% rise in Europe and nearly 50% in the Americas. The easing of Covid-19 restrictions has led to a surge in demand from the foodservice sector, while retail demand remains high. Mowi's CEO, Ivan Vindheim, noted that the demand for salmon has increased as Covid-19 restrictions have eased in most countries. He also highlighted that despite a 9% increase in global supply, including frozen inventory release from Chile, global salmon prices were approximately 25% higher year-on-year. Mowi Farming saw an improvement in profits due to higher prices and stable harvest volumes and cost. Mowi Consumer Products also had a successful quarter with record-high volumes. Mowi has decided to divide its largest Farming unit, Norway Region Mid, into two new regions; West and Mid, to improve operational performance and productivity. Mowi has also achieved 85% green financing with a new 5-year green EUR 1.8 billion facility. Several MOWI branding launches were undertaken during the quarter, including MOWI Pure in Belgium, MOWI Gourmet and Signature in Italy and MOWI Sushi in Spain. Mowi reported operational revenues of EUR 1 000 million (EUR 911 million) in the quarter. The total harvest volume in the quarter was 107 977 tonnes gutted weight (104 303 tonnes), in line with guidance. The full-year harvest guidance for 2021 has been slightly increased to 450 000 tonnes from 445 000 tonnes. Mowi’s Board has decided to pay a quarterly dividend of NOK 1.96 per share.
