Mowi Recognized as Most Sustainable Protein Producer for Fourth Consecutive Year

For the fourth year in a row, Mowi has been recognized as the top sustainable protein producer by the Coller FAIRR Protein Producer Index. This index provides a comprehensive evaluation of the world's largest producers of meat, dairy, and farmed fish. The ranking of the 60 companies evaluated is based on a score that considers environmental, social, and governance-related factors such as greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and food safety. Mowi's CEO, Ivan Vindheim, expressed his pride in the company's consistent top ranking, attributing it to Mowi's strong policies on responsible sourcing, animal welfare, and environmental sustainability. Catarina Martins, Chief Sustainability and Technology Officer, emphasized the company's commitment to sustainable food production, stating their ultimate goal is to harness the ocean's potential to feed the growing global population in an environmentally respectful manner. The 2022 report highlighted that aquaculture companies, particularly salmon companies, consistently outperform land animal protein producers. Mowi shares the top four spots with fellow aquaculture companies Grieg Seafood ASA and Lerøy Seafood Group ASA, both based in Norway, who are ranked second and fourth respectively. The Coller FAIRR Index is a valuable resource for financial institutions, providing top-tier data, analytics, and trends on the protein sector to inform investment decisions and engagement strategies. It is instrumental in shaping global protein market trends by highlighting areas where corporate policy or disclosure is lacking. The index assesses key suppliers in the food chain on how they manage environmental, social, and governance (ESG) risks.
