McCain Foods Limited, based in Toronto, Ontario, has revealed its intentions to enhance the production capacity at its Coaldale, Alberta, Canada plant. The investment will increase the production capabilities of the french fry manufacturing unit, in response to the sustained high demand for McCain products in both domestic and international markets. Constructed in 2000, the Coaldale plant is a crucial part of the McCain North American supply chain. It currently employs over 200 individuals and sources its supplies from 28 potato farmers in the Southern Alberta area. The expansion is projected to be finalized by fall 2017 and is a component of a continuous global capacity investment initiative that the company has implemented. In the last year and a half, McCain Foods Limited has declared increased capacity investments in its facilities in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Australia, France, Belgium, Argentina, Colombia, and India. This demonstrates the company's ongoing global expansion. Dirk Van de Put, President and CEO of McCain Foods Limited, stated, “As our global volumes rise, we are actively assessing new investment opportunities in our network. Over the past 18 months, we have confirmed investments exceeding $1 billion to boost capacity, including investments in infrastructure, technology, and capabilities, across all McCain products”.
