McCain Foods Limited ("McCain") has recently procured the predictive crop intelligence portfolio from Resson, an analytics technology firm that enhances farming efficiency. Resson's technology, based on vision-intelligence, utilizes field data imagery to aid farmers in making more informed decisions, thereby increasing farm productivity. "The procurement is crucial to McCain's innovation strategy and our goal to utilize digital technology to revolutionize agriculture," stated Jillian Moffatt, Chief Technology Officer, McCain Foods Limited. "The technology offers productivity improvement to farmers and food processors by using actionable insights from their field data to make predictive decisions that enhance long-term yields and profitability." McCain, an early investor in digital agriculture technologies, has been collaborating with Resson for nearly a decade to create algorithms that predict farm yields based on the evaluation of potato fields and crop development through remote sensing technologies. This procurement will expand these technologies as McCain continues to invest in its growth and collaborate with Resson's existing customers to assist growers and food processors in managing their crop production efficiently. "We are delighted to have a partner like McCain as these influential technologies transition to them, who will assist farmers in further modernizing their operations," said Mike Morris, CEO, Resson. "At Resson, we will persist in developing technologies for pest detection, disease, and other crop metrics based on smart camera technology to collaborate with farmers to understand how we can support them with beneficial products and services." With the procurement, the Resson team currently managing the predictive crop intelligence portfolio will join McCain and form the core of a newly established business unit within the company. The team will continue to collaborate with various food processors and farmers to provide valuable field and crop information. "Digital technologies have the potential to revolutionize agriculture by assisting farmers in working more efficiently and sustainably," said Philippe Thery, Global Chief Agriculture Officer, McCain Foods Limited. "Resson's data-driven insights can enhance environmental performance, and McCain is dedicated to supporting farmers in their efforts to adopt them." Resson's technologies will further McCain's commitments to regenerative agriculture through intelligent and sustainable farming practices. The procurement aligns with McCain's purpose of sustainability being central to producing delicious, planet-friendly food.
