McCain Foods USA Breaks Ground for Major Expansion in Othello, Washington

Today, McCain Foods USA, a top provider of frozen potato and snack food products nationwide, marked the commencement of a 170,000-square-foot expansion at its potato processing facility in Othello, Washington. This expansion, representing a $300 million investment, will significantly increase the North American production capacity of McCain Foods. This will be achieved through the introduction of a cutting-edge processing line for battered and conventional french fries. The expansion also underscores McCain Foods' dedication to Washington and the local potato farming community, as it is expected to create around 180 new jobs for locals and necessitate an additional 11,000 acres, to be procured from regional potato farmers. Dale McCarthy, Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain at McCain Foods North America, expressed gratitude to the company's farming partners and employees, attributing the company's history of high-quality food production in Washington to their efforts. He added that the $300 million expansion would strengthen the company's ties and commitment to the state and foster the growth of the potato industry for the foreseeable future. Currently, McCain Foods Othello employs over 450 people who produce and distribute more than 400,000 million pounds of frozen products. The expansion is expected to be completed in early 2021.
