McCain Foods Unveils Plans for Significant Growth in Florenceville NB

McCain Foods (Canada), based in Florenceville, NB, has today declared a substantial investment in its Florenceville-Bristol French fry facility. This will enhance its capacity and generate 40 to 50 new employment opportunities. The firm is incorporating a new production line to cater to the increasing demand for hash brown patties and similar potato-based products. The investment, worth $65 million, will encompass a 32,000 square foot extension to the current fry plant, along with cutting-edge manufacturing machinery and technology. Jeffery DeLapp, the Regional President for North America at McCain, stated that the new line will enable McCain to more effectively cater to the requirements of its retail and foodservice clients in Canada, the United States, and other export markets. He noted that hash browns and other specialty items are the most rapidly expanding segment of the potato market. He added that this investment will aid in the growth of their North American and export businesses and crucially, help them support their customers' growth objectives. Shai Altman, the President of McCain Foods (Canada), mentioned that the improved capacity will enable the company to provide a wider variety of products to its Canadian clients and consumers. He stated that consumers are seeking more options than ever before and this investment will help them cater to this demand by broadening their existing product range and creating new innovative potato specialties for people to enjoy at home or at their preferred restaurant. Dale McCarthy, the Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain for North America, highlighted that the expansion will boost economic growth in the region and will significantly impact New Brunswick potato farmers.
