#### **•** By obtaining the Welfare Quality seal, Litera Meat adds another quality certification to its list and reasserts its commitment and sensitivity to animal welfare

#### **•** The mark obtained, which verged on the “excellent”, is a stimulus to continue within the same line of work

***Binéfar, March 2020***

Litera Meat was granted the Welfare Quality seal earlier this month after a thorough audit carried out by the certifying company ACERTA, which resulted in the granting of **a very good mark verging on the «excellent»**. The outcome ***“has been quite favourable and clearly shows the hard work and awareness level of our team”,*** stated the Director of Litera Meat’s Quality Department, **Carlos Gaspar**. For their part, ACERTA’s auditors highlighted **Litera Meat’s level of** **commitment on matters of animal welfare, which turns the company into a *“model to be imitated within the industry”.***

The Welfare Quality protocol consists in a careful analysis and assessment of various criteria and the obtention of the corresponding certification is a guarantee that the animals handled comply with high standards on animal welfare. The granting of this seal **reasserts Litera Meat’s commitment to comply with good practices and adhere to the principles and preferences of its clients and consumers**, who value the empathy with animals quite positively.

Considered one of the most innovative companies within the industry, Litera Meat incorporates different **measures in favour of the protection and comfort of animals** all throughout from the time of arrival at the abattoir on. A clear example of this is its **unloading mechanism, which uses hydraulic platforms** to ease animals way up to lairage and prevents them from getting hurt. In line with this, Litera Meat has its own training centre, officially authorised to teach different **courses on matters of animal welfare at the slaughterhouse**.

#### ***Animal Welfare, a Synonym for Quality***

There are many studies proving that higher levels of stress and discomfort have a negative impact on the quality of the end product. This is why **investing on the protection and safety of animals is a priority for Litera Meat, which works every day in an effort to offer its clients the maximum standard of quality.**
