Litera Meat Greenlights Installation of Photovoltaic Plant in Aragón

Our firm is set to produce over 9 GWh of renewable energy annually, which will result in a reduction of 1,500 tons of CO2 emissions each year. This initiative, which utilizes the latest advancements in photovoltaic technology, is projected to be completed by the end of May 2023. Litera Meat's environmental policy aims to foster sustainable and responsible corporate growth, viewing environmental sustainability and respect as a long-term strategy for creating value and progress within the company. In line with this, Litera Meat has begun the process of launching a self-consumption photovoltaic project. This involves installing a series of solar panels on the roof of the meat plant, which spans 62,000 m2. As per our Infrastructure Director, Jacobo Martínez, this project will account for approximately 11% of the plant's annual electricity consumption, sourced from clean, renewable energy. This initiative is a testament to our commitment to efficiency, continuous improvement, and technological advancement. The project, designed and executed by Solarfam Ingeniería, is the largest of its kind on a single roof in Aragón. It will occupy 34,000 m2 with over 13,100 modules in a coplanar structure for optimal space and angle utilization. With an investment exceeding 4.5 million euros, this self-supply project will have a power output of 7.5 megawatts peak (MWp), generating approximately 9.4 million kWh of renewable energy annually. This significant contribution to sustainability equates to a reduction of 1,500 tons in annual CO2 emissions, equivalent to the electrical consumption of roughly 2,700 Spanish households. Furthermore, Litera Meat has embraced the technological advancements in the photovoltaic sector by incorporating glass-glass encapsulated modules with bifacial functionality and state-of-the-art type-N technology. These are highly efficient and composed of the most eco-friendly components. This substantial investment reaffirms Litera Meat's commitment to the environment, maximizing the use of local natural resources, enhancing their competitiveness, and paving the way for a more sustainable future.
