Leadership for Danish Crown’s New Venture
Randers, December 20, 2013 Jan Boeg Hansen is set to take on the role of CEO at DC Ingredients, a new subsidiary of Danish Crown, starting from January 1, 2014. Danish Crown has already established a robust presence in the value chain, from production to distribution. The formation of DC Ingredients is a strategic move to consolidate the processes involved in the extraction of ingredients and by-products, such as those utilized in the food industry. DAT-Schaub, a global leader in casings, is a significant player in this sector. The newly formed DC Ingredients will focus on various activities, including the utilization of blood from the slaughter process, production of mink feed ingredients, and hydrolysed proteins. Jan Boeg Hansen will be at the helm of this new venture. At 56, Jan Boeg Hansen brings over three decades of experience in the sales and production of food industry ingredients. His leadership roles at Novo Nordisk, Chr. Hansen, GELITA in Germany, and biotech firm Cleanfield, make him an ideal fit for this position. Jan Boeg Hansen's extensive experience makes him the perfect candidate to lead and expand this crucial business segment within the group. Given the cost structure in Denmark, it has been vital for several years to maximize the value derived from the entire product, not just pork chops and bacon joints, but also blood, casings, and other by-products. The creation of DC Ingredients signifies our strategic focus on this area, says Jan Roelsgaard, Chairman of the Board of DC Ingredients and CEO of DAT-Schaub.
