Danish Crown is now providing its current members with a cash growth supplement of 0.50 DKK per kg for additional pork supplied, in an effort to boost the production of slaughter pigs. Simultaneously, a financial incentive is being extended to new cooperative members, along with the opportunity to supply more welfare pigs to the UK market. This move aims to counter the rising decrease in pig supply to Danish slaughterhouses. Despite the high birth rate of pigs on Danish farms, a significant number are being exported. The Danish Parliament has approved an agricultural package and a subsidy plan for new pig housing units for slaughter. These two specific initiatives cater to the sector's needs. In line with these initiatives, Danish Crown is launching its own growth package. The company believes that this trend can be reversed, leading to increased activity at Danish Crown’s slaughterhouses, according to Jais Valeur, Group CEO at Danish Crown. Danish Crown's strength lies in its capacity to consistently deliver high-quality pork products to global customers. This has secured the company a unique spot in the global market, but this position is currently under threat. The issue is not so much competition, but rather the inability to meet the volume demands of customers, says Valeur. The new growth supplement is being complemented with an expansion of a subsidy plan for new weaner producers for the UK market. Concurrently, Danish Crown is prepared to offer a financial incentive of 0.30 DKK per kg to new slaughter pig suppliers, who will also receive free advisory services. Erik Bredholt, Chairman of Danish Crown, views this growth package as a win-win situation for all. Existing cooperative members have the opportunity to increase their production, and specialist weaner producers can rent new housing units and begin producing slaughter pigs. New cooperative members are also being welcomed to Danish Crown with a cash incentive. Bredholt has high expectations for these initiatives. The growth package was unveiled to Danish Crown’s Board of Representatives on Monday evening. As of today, Danish farmers can take advantage of the various growth package schemes.
