Sue KiesewetterFAIRFIELD – The ninth-largest employer in Butler County is among five firms honored with the James A. Wuenker Growth Award by the Regional Economic Development Initiative Cincinnati. Redi Cincinnati, the primary liaison for businesses seeking to establish or expand in a 16-county area spanning Southwest Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeast Indiana, is the economic development entity for southwest Ohio. The awards, named after the esteemed economic developer James A. Wuenker who significantly influenced the region's future, are presented yearly to projects announced in the preceding year that have substantially boosted the Cincinnati region's economic health. Last September, Koch Foods revealed a $220 million enlargement of its chicken processing packaging facility in Fairfield. The 402,140-square-foot structure is set to initially introduce two additional production lines to the existing seven and create 400 new jobs. The opening is anticipated later this year.
