Jimmy Dean Brand Expands Breakfast Offerings with New Plant-Based Patty Breakfast Sandwiches
Jimmy Dean®, a Tyson Foods brand and America's favorite protein breakfast maker, has introduced two new plant-based patty sandwiches to cater to the growing demand for meat alternatives. The new offerings, Jimmy Dean® Plant-Based Patty, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwich and Jimmy Dean Delights® Plant-Based Patty & Frittata Sandwich, are crafted with the brand’s signature seasoning and deliver the same taste as the classic Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches. The demand for plant-based food options has surged, with retail sales increasing by 148% more than last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Many Americans are transitioning to a more flexitarian diet, incorporating more plant-based foods alongside their meat staples, particularly during breakfast. Scott Glenn, senior director of marketing, Jimmy Dean brand, said, "Plant-based foods are revolutionizing the way people eat across meal occasions, including breakfast. As the protein breakfast leader, expanding our portfolio to provide people with alternative choices was critical." The new sandwiches feature a savory, plant-based patty that provides the same great taste as the brand’s classic breakfast sandwich. The Jimmy Dean® Plant-Based Patty, Egg & Cheese Croissant Sandwiches are available now at Sam’s Club locations nationwide, while the Jimmy Dean Delights® Plant-Based Patty & Frittata Sandwiches will be available nationwide in Spring 2021. Tyson Foods is committed to being a leader across all proteins, including alternative proteins. The company first entered the alternative protein space with the introduction of the Raised & Rooted™ brand in 2019. The launch of the Jimmy Dean brand breakfast sandwiches with a plant-based patty is the latest example of Tyson Foods’ pursuit to produce the most loved alternative protein products in the world and expand the accessibility and affordability of plant-based protein options to consumers.
