This has elevated the total contributions of pet food by the company to over 75,100 cans within the current year. On July 5, 2021, in Bangkok, Thai Union Group PCL made a significant contribution, donating in excess of 35,000 cans of Bellota cat food and Marvo dog food during June 2021, as a part of its continuous humanitarian efforts to support animal communities in Thailand affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The recent contributions were distributed among eight pet organizations and shelters located in Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, and Chonburi Provinces. The beneficiaries included Paws Bangkok, The Hope Thailand, Kanyapat Home for Stray Dogs and Cats, PickAPet4Home, Pa Cu Home for Stray Dogs and Cats, Rakmaw for Stray Cats Foundation, Adrian Giurgu's Shelter for Handicapped Dogs, and the Home for Handicapped Animals Foundation. These donations aim to assist shelters and organizations in caring for sick, handicapped, and stray cats and dogs, and facilitate the distribution of food by local animal volunteers throughout Thailand. Pornchai Tatiyachaitaweesuk, Vice President of Thai Union’s Global PetCare Business Unit, expressed the company's awareness of the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on pet communities responsible for feeding and caring for animals. He affirmed Thai Union’s PetCare business's dedication to supporting these communities, aiding pet guardians, and community volunteers in feeding pets and street animals during these challenging times. Since the onset of COVID-19's third wave in April, Thai Union has contributed over 75,100 cans of Bellota cat food and Marvo dog food throughout the year, ensuring that animal shelters, community organizations, and volunteers across Thailand can continue to feed animals in need. Amy Baron, the founder of PAWS Bangkok, highlighted the increased requests for assistance with stray animals, attributing this to the economic and health challenges faced by community members and groups traditionally caring for these animals. She expressed gratitude for Thai Union's pet food donation, emphasizing its importance in supporting not only the animals in their care but also in engaging with the broader community to address the needs of homeless animals. Peter Galli, Group Director of Corporate Communications at Thai Union, pointed out the increased need for food among pet guardians, shelters, and volunteer groups, especially for stray cats and dogs, due to many people working from home or staying indoors amid the pandemic. He discussed the financial hardships experienced by many due to the pandemic, making it difficult for them to afford feeding their animals. Galli highlighted Thai Union's response to this need by providing healthy and nutritious pet food to support animal communities and the essential work they do during these difficult times. Captions detailed the handover of Bellota and Marvo products by Mr. Peter Galli to various recipients, including Amy Baron of Paws Thailand and Mrs. Kanung Deepa of the Home for Handicapped Animals Foundation, demonstrating Thai Union's commitment to supporting animal guardians and community volunteers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
