GSI enhances standards with its third annual sustainability report

The report presents the following significant points: Data spanning four years (2013-2016) was collected on 14 crucial environmental and social parameters. This year's report underwent an independent audit, setting a new standard for industry transparency. A quarter of GSI farms (114 in total) have achieved ASC certification. Farmed salmon continues to have a relative environmental advantage over other protein sources. The responsible use of marine ingredients has been made possible through advancements in feed resources and enhancements in feed conversion ratios. GSI members make positive impacts on local communities, employing nearly 20,000 people worldwide. As a GSI member, we persistently focus on our main areas of concern: improving disease management, sourcing sustainable feed, and striving for the highest industry standards. We acknowledge that there is more work to be done, but we are satisfied with the progress made so far. We believe that through collaboration and sharing of best practices on environmental performance, we can enhance the sustainability of our operations more rapidly than working alone.
