# Fundraising for Alzheimer’s by ABP Newry and Lurgan

Team members at ABP Newry and Lurgan have successfully raised £40,000 in support of the Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland. They hosted a Gala Charity Ball, which saw attendance from more than 400 individuals. Claire Duffy, the event's primary organizer, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “The Gala Ball surpassed our expectations by a significant margin, and I'm thrilled that we managed to collect an impressive amount exceeding £40,000 for the Alzheimer’s Society. “The event also served as a crucial platform for increasing awareness and understanding about dementia among all attendees, which is invaluable. “Duffy further noted, “The annual cost of dementia in the UK is £23 billion, surpassing the costs associated with cancer, heart disease, and stroke combined. The Alzheimer’s Society plays a vital role in advocating for those living with dementia and the countless individuals who care for them. Bernadine McCrory, the Operations Director for the Alzheimer’s Society in Northern Ireland, expressed her gratitude, saying, “Our heartfelt thanks go to the teams at ABP Lurgan and Newry, as well as to the sponsors for their generous donations and to all the guests for their substantial contributions during the event. “The effort, time, and resources invested in organizing such a distinguished event are well recognized, and we at the Alzheimer’s Society are immensely appreciative of the support and recognition our services in Northern Ireland have received through this remarkable event.
