Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Limited is delighted to announce that the East of Skelwick Skerry Site in Westray, Orkney, has received full planning approval, as decided in the inaugural Planning committee meeting of the new Council. The site, located relatively offshore at a distance of 2.5km from the closest land, will be outfitted with technology specifically designed for high energy locations. The company has plans to develop this site over the coming year, which will result in the creation of 8 new positions and increase the company's UK workforce to over 320, including approximately 90 employees based solely in Orkney. The establishment of this new farm will not only solidify but also enhance the operations in Westray, while also improving efficiency at the dedicated processing facility in Hatston, Kirkwall. Cooke Aquaculture Scotland Limited takes pride in the fact that all fish farmed in Orkney is also processed within the County, providing valuable job opportunities for the local communities.
