The survival rate of fish, calculated on a 12-month rolling basis, was found to be highest in Norway at 94.8%, while it ranged between 92 and 93% in Canada and Chile for Atlantic salmon. The method of treating sea lice in Canada remained consistent with the previous year, while Chile saw an increase in bath treatments. However, no such treatments were used in Norway, including hydrogen peroxide. The use of cleaner fish has shown promising results in Norway, and Cermaq is currently conducting research on local cleaner fish in Canada. A native cleaner fish species, Malapterus reticulatus, has been discovered in Chile through a collective industry effort, and breeding trials will soon commence by Cermaq Chile. Cermaq is also examining the impact of Imvixa, a new oral treatment for sea lice, at its research facility in Chile. The treatment, which has been approved in Chile, appears to have a significant effect on Caligus sea lice, although it is too soon to make definitive conclusions. Cermaq has successfully obtained new ACS certifications in all regions and currently operates 25 ASC certified salmon farms.
