Despite Competitive Pressures, Danish Crown Maintains Satisfactory Financials

On 24 May 2016, Danish Crown, a global food group based in Randers, Denmark, reported a net profit of DKK 819 million for the first half of the 2015/16 financial year. The company's CEO, Jais Valeur, expressed satisfaction with the results, despite the competitive retail market and pressure on livestock farmers and general farming prices. Danish Crown faces daily challenges such as weak meat demand and oversupply in European markets. However, the company has seen positive market developments, particularly in Asia, where sales are increasing. Despite intense competition, Danish Crown Foods has maintained earnings in the retail market for processed products. The company reported a flat revenue development, generating DKK 29.4 billion, with equity at DKK 6.4 billion at the end of the first half. Danish Crown also took over control of Swedish subsidiary Dalsjöfors during this period. Valeur emphasized the need for the company to continue improving and working hard to create value for its 8,000 owners and suppliers.
